Our Mission
Lotus House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving birth outcomes for birthing people, especially Black and historically marginalized families. We provide culturally centered doula support, reproductive education, perinatal loss services, and advocacy to ensure that every birthing person receives the care and respect they deserve.
Black families face disproportionate maternal health challenges from birth disparities to inadequate support for pregnancy and infant loss. At Lotus House, we are committed to changing these outcomes by offering compassionate, community-centered care that uplifts and empowers families through every stage of their reproductive journey.
Our Services
Perinatal & Infant Loss Support
Losing a baby is a profound and life-altering experience. Lotus House offers grief-informed support for families experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. We hold space for parents navigating loss with compassion, culturally sensitive guidance, and community support.
Education & Training
We provide educational workshops and training on reproductive health, birth justice, and bereavement support for both families and birthworkers. Topics include:
Preparing for birth & postpartum recovery
Understanding Black maternal health disparities
Healing after pregnancy or infant loss
Advocacy in medical settings
Postpartum Kits & Community Resources
Lotus House provides care packages for postpartum parents and bereaved families, ensuring they have access to comforting and supportive items during this transitional time. We also connect families with vital resources, including mental health services, lactation support, and more.
Legislative & Community Advocacy
We believe in systemic change to improve Black maternal health. Lotus House actively advocates for policies that address maternal mortality, birth equity, and reproductive justice. We work with organizations, policymakers, and grassroots movements to create lasting change.
